Raducanu reached the third round in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slams in the current campaign.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in the last two tournaments in 2025 as a result of a health issue she has been fighting for the last week and a half.

The 22-year-old was due to play in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to rest and recuperate prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.

Those preparations will include coach Francisco Roig, as they will keep partnering for the upcoming season.

The tennis professional underwent blood pressure monitoring while playing the initial match against Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She again required a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the opening round.

Her movement was with clear difficulty in the third set against Zhu because of a lower back issue that has been a concern during parts of the season.

These outcomes signaled a promising season, in which the player advanced into the world's top 30 after more than three years since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.

Raducanu had three match points before losing to American player Jessica Pegula in round three in last month's Beijing event.

The player achieved 28 victories in the current season and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but her most impressive week was at March's Miami Open.

As Britain's top player made the last eight of this WTA 1000 tournament, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route before losing in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

Her coach was Mark Petchey as coach from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig taking over ahead of the US Open.

The first plan with Rafael Nadal's former coach was through the season's conclusion but the partnership will continue, with planned training sessions in the coming months.

She mentioned that her three-day trial with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in August's Cincinnati tournament.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she reached the third round prior to losing to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
