Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Officers state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials report initial examinations show the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; investigators are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they added.
Local authorities announced they were working "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the public for information.
A high-ranking official said the attack rendered him speechless and had to be addressed quickly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
