Response teams were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews working to manage the widespread outages.

Victoria's Storm Challenges

Meanwhile, around one thousand households in the southern state also faced energy failures after the capital city experienced its most precipitation in over 500 days.

State Emergency Services received nearly 600 calls for help across the state, mostly for property damage but also for downed trees and inundation.

Hardest Hit Locations

  • The Werribee area - saw considerable destruction
  • Hoppers Crossing suburb - multiple emergency calls
  • Wyndham - nearly 180 emergency requests

During the peak on the previous day, in excess of 28,000 energy customers in the state were without power.

Weather Forecast

Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along large portions of eastern Queensland this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.

The following day was forecast to be the wettest day, with continued storm activity expected across multiple regions of both states.

Safety Concern

Medical authorities warned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the northern rural areas, especially given the ongoing climate situation.

This caution comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the area.
