Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Table

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot including angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

As described by the DM, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to head next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing started the story’s plot—used the foes for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.

Casimir then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
  • Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty location.
  • The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their position as important members in the powerful family could help the group enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This means them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.

Future Episodes

According to episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Questers and Planners groups.

Viewers can expect discovering which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
