Fans Demand Arrest of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of Ariana Grande are urging that a man who breached a barricade and touched the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or deported from Singapore.
A viral clip reveals the individual from Australia bypassing photographers and rushing toward Grande while the cast proceeded down a event pathway surrounded by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the shocked performer away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being detained", though court documents revealed that he was set to appear on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
Record of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a performance. His Instagram profile contains clips of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney show in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last winter.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is evidently a legal violation," stated an Instagram follower, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user wrote.
Followers Express Concern Over Grande's Past Trauma
Many supporters criticized Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had discussed experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the end of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and wounding many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote one more response on Instagram.
Several attendees also questioned event staff at the Thursday event for not being adequately prepared; while others requested social media platforms to block Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In clips shared widely, Grande seemed startled when she was touched by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.
Numerous of attendees had gathered in a sea of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be released on November 21, is the sequel of a two-part adaptation of the acclaimed stage show Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected relationship between two contrasting sorceresses.
The musical itself is a spin-off of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a champagne pink glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of last year in the UK, and earned a dozen Oscar nominations, winning two for outstanding attire and set decoration.
