Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues
The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “harming young minds” by telling students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
During an event for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators soon after securing a victory,” he remarked in response to questions.
“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They promote this negative culture.”
Reacting to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede dismissed the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.
“The politician has crafted his political career on dog-whistle politics and currently, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their unions for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”
Reform, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and does not appear to have designated an education lead.
Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the system and the curriculum. He said: “We have got a massive job with schooling – truly monumental. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”
Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, he commented: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind rather than current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”
The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
Farage has accused the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned through education, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.
Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has about 450,000 members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for children.
At the US event, Farage also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He said organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I am serious. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to your online courses. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”
The college, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for free to every interested learner.”
