  • Four-Degree Warming: Planetary heating soaring past 4C by 2100 could happen if international cooperation fails or if powerful amplifying effects like the Amazon rainforest becoming a net carbon source unleash its huge repository of carbon.   • AMOC Shutdown: A major ocean current, the North Atlantic current, is weakening and becoming unstable due to ocean warming.
