The Renowned Musician Calls On Support to Send Together for Palestine Song to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to send a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign seeks to send support to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.
An Opportunity for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely disheartened if it fails to, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”
Defiant Message of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.
“The song holds a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Featured Artists
The song was recorded in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the piece was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.
The diverse array of musicians featured on Lullaby includes a group of prominent voices from the industry. All participated in the earlier concert, which successfully generated a significant sum for relief efforts.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was produced by a group of music creators. The track blends a fusion of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.
The team running the campaign have stated that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These donations will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an established charity.
“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a spokesperson commented. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The situation in the territory was noted for its widespread damage, with a vast majority of buildings reportedly destroyed or damaged.
“In that context, a few million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is above all raising awareness for this issue and showing there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a digital service from the 19th of December.
